AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO RELIEVED AND ELATED BY THIS NEWS THAT I DO NOT EVEN CARE TOMORROW IS A MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To explain, I am elated, obviously, because I love Fringe with all my heart and soul and, because it is a J.J. Abrams show, it is beyond clear that crazy shit is going to unfold over the course of each season (read: he works in long arcs, so the more seasons he has to work with the crazier and more awesome his shows get). The relief part comes from the fact that show always kind of lingers in this danger zone because it doesn't get American Idol-sized ratings. And it appears Fox believes in the show as much as I always thought they have.
Yes, Walter, exactly.
Last week, Fox president of entertainment Kevin Reilly replied, "Yes, absolutely!" when asked by THR's James Hibberd if the scripted block on Thursdays was here to stay. But I definitely did not expect an official renewal/to be granted relief this early in the game. I am so thoroughly excited, right through to my core, people! Now I can enjoy the remaining episodes of the season with all of the intensity and fervor a fan should without having to deal with that sinking feeling or a nagging in the back of my head that the show might not be back next year. SO PUMPED!!!
New episodes of Fringe (and its Thursday lead-in partner, Bones) return to Fox on April 1st!
PS - There have been a few other renewals (30 Rock and Community), so I will make it a point to give an updated show status report soon. ENJOY THIS BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY, FRIENDS!!!
