An Open Letter to Fiona Apple

*I recommend pressing play and then only listening to this video because the camera is super shaky and could cause headaches, nausea, and quite possibly indigestion.*

Dear Fiona Apple,

Hi! It’s me, your lifelong fan AJ!

A couple weeks ago, I saw a video of you performing at the benefit show you helped organize to raise money for Haiti. Your cover of “He’s Funny That Way” was wonderful, truly marvelous! I just emailed it to a friend because we were talking about you and how much we miss you. So, I figured it was time I took a moment to address you directly.

I just want to let you know that we, your fans, do want more music from you. The old standard covers you do at The Largo that surface on YouTube are great, but we love YOUR music, too. But no pressure! We understand how long the creative process can take and how much making a record and promoting it can take out of a person. It is only natural for there to be long periods between records, especially for an artist of your caliber. Nevertheless, the thought of never hearing another original song from you is chilling. And I just wanted to put it out there in the realm of internetyness that we love your music and your art and we can’t wait to hear more from you when you deem the time is right.

Holla,
AJ
