SWTS Features: A Key

As many of you know, SWTS has several regular features or columns that appear throughout each month. But some of you don’t know, so here is a key to discovering WTF each feature means:

Ask AJ

This is a monthly column where readers submit pop culture-related questions and have me, AJ, answer them. Whether you just want to know something straight up (“When is Desperate Housewives returning with new episodes?”) or you want the SWTS perspective or opinion on an event—if you ask, I will answer. Feel free to use any of the means of contacting SWTS outlined in the “Contact” section to submit your answers or just leave a comment on any SWTS post!

Scheduling With the Stars

This is a Google calendar that I update routinely with important pop culture dates—movie and DVD releases, television show premieres, book releases, album releases, music video and single premieres, and so on. Anytime I hear or read about anything important in the entertainment realm, I put it on this calendar. (It should be noted, however, that the television premiere dates and such are limited to correspond with the “What AJ is Watching” column. So, no Lost or Desperate Housewives, guys.)

See, Rent, No: Movies For the Month

SRN is a monthly column that runs before the first Friday of every month. In it, I go through every single movie that is being released in theaters for the month and my desire to either see it in theaters, rent it when it comes out on DVD or to say, “No!” and not bother seeing the movie, well, ever. All opinions and reactions are based on trailer views, press information, and critic and peer reviews. Think of SWTS as the friend you ask for movie advice. We’ll tell you what’s worth seeing and what isn’t.

What AJ is Watching

Television is like the breakfast of SWTS: it’s the most important meal of the day. I watch (understatement alert) a lot of television, and this feature serves as a way for readers to keep up with what exactly I am watching each season and, similar to SRN, what shows—new and returning—SWTS recommends. We have charts and everything! This feature is updated at the beginning of all television seasons—fall, “midseason” or spring as I like to call it, and summer. That usually translates to early Septemeber, early January, and the end of May.

Wind AJ Up: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Another monthly column, this is where I detail everything that is rockin’ my world for the month—new songs, new movies, new people (actors/actresses, singers, etc.), new shows. Anything and everything that I can’t stop loving, watching or listening to. The title derives from the Gwen Stefani song “Wind It Up” (the “these are a few of my favorite things” part going along with Gwen’s incessant love for referencing The Sound of Music). I started doing this when that song had just been released and I didn’t quite plan for the fact that one day, no one would know WTF it means. So, now you do.

WTF: Things That Are WACK This Week

The only weekly feature currently running here at SWTS, WTF is a recap of everything that happened during the week that made me scream, “WHAT THE FUCK?!” Most of the time, the instances and events included in this column are things that made me scream angry or appalled or annoyed WTFs, but there is always the occasional hilarious WTF that I just can’t get over.

If we ever add more features to SWTS, I will be sure to update this post. But for now this is what we’ve got! I hope this helps.
